Arsenal photographer trolls Spurs about centre spot shrine at new Tottenham stadium

It’s safe to say the rivalry between Arsenal and Spurs goes beyond the players on the pitch – and this was evident for all to see on social media.

Gunners photographer Stuart MacFarlane has hilariously trolled Tottenham over their shrine to the White Hart Lane centre-spot at their new stadium.

Arsenal’s legendary ‘Invincibles’ side needed just a point against their bitter rivals to claim the Premier League title in 2004.

And after battling to a 2-2 draw, Thierry Henry and Ashley Cole famously celebrated their title win in 2004 by posing with an inflatable trophy on the centre spot.

And the chief snapper at the Emirates, MacFarlane, shared a photo of the plaque on Twitter, cruelly reminding Spurs fans of this bitter moment in the past – and leaving Arsenal fans in stitches.

He wrote: “Nice of spurs to commemorate the very spot where Ashley Cole and Thierry Henry celebrated Arsenal winning the league at WHL in 2004”.

The tweet has now gone rival, racking up more than 15,000 likes and over 6,000 retweets.

Tottenham finally opened their new stadium on Wednesday evening after 690 days of waiting.
