Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy is facing up to three months out as he recovers from knee surgery, Pep Guardiola has revealed.
Guardiola, the Man City manager, said in a press conference on Friday that Mendy has undergone surgery to fix a meniscus problem in his left knee
Asked if he had a timescale for the French international’s expected recovery, Guardiola replied: “Ten to 12 weeks.”
Guardiola will also be unable to call upon Bernardo Silva, the Portugal midfielder, for Saturday’s visit to West Ham after he picked up a knock on international duty.
“He cannot play this weekend,” Guardiola continued. “It’s not too big but I don’t know if, next Tuesday, he’s ready.”
City visit the London Stadium on Saturday afternoon where they will come up against Guardiola’s predecessor for the Etihad Stadium top job – Manuel Pellegrini.

“Here he won the league,” Guardiola added. “He helped this club to be where we are right now, and he is going to do well at West Ham.”
